Had quite a pleasant dinner experience at MariPili! Made a reservation the day of for bar seating. The decor and bar area was gorgeous - I really loved how cozy and well lit the restaurant was. We ordered 3 dishes to split. Croquetas de Jamón - delicious, served hot and the bechamel was so creamy. Less Jamon than expected. I thought I'd need a sauce but the bechamel was so rich that a sauce may have been overkill. Patatas Bravas - really well cooked potatoes for the cut and thickness. I usually prefer thinner crispier potatoes and but I this was still a great take on Patatas Bravas. However, it was a bit too salty and I would've liked more sauce. Ended up being my least fave of the night. Paella Tahdig was my favorite of the night. The rice could've been crispier but I enjoyed every bite. The shrimp was PERFECTLY cooked and fresh. This was a great shareable. Service was great! Everyone was very attentive and kind. Would come again!
We visited this restaurant on a Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM with a reservation. The place was fully booked, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance! We ordered the bravas (fried potatoes), zamburiñas (scallops), and cachopo (veal cutlet). The bravas were crispy, savory, and almost meaty in flavor--definitely a must-try. The scallops, while slightly overcooked for my taste, were complemented beautifully by the refreshing chimichurri sauce. The veal cutlet was a generous portion, served as a full entrée, and came with a shaved fennel and apple salad on the side, which balanced the dish nicely. The ambiance was cozy and dimly lit, making it an excellent spot for a date night. Note: There's a 3% surcharge for transactions.
We're in town for a concert and wanted to meet up with a dear friend and all agreed to try a new to all of us place. We are all food adventurous and knew we wanted something not "mainstream". This fit the bill EXACTLY. My husband and I arrived early to our 8:30 pm reservation and sat at the bar to have a drink while we waited for our friend. The bar staff was congenial, helpful, and interactive. So personable. Our friend arrived and we were sat at a table. We agreed to order 3 tapas a piece and share a dessert. This was a perfect amount of food for 3 and I will think about that food for a lifetime. Get all of the things but especially the oxtail, octopus, and that damned addictive chocolate dessert!
A wonderful place in Cap Hill to celebrate a special occasion. Although it's a bit pricey, the food is delicious, simple, and well executed. We split the following: 1. Paella Tahdig - loved the super crispy rice and flavorful infusion of oil and Spanish influences. 2. Patatas bravas - potatoes were crispy and seared well. Our favorite part was the hits of garlic aioli complemented with the red sauce. 3. Bacallau a Marineria - fish was pretty decent but maybe a bit too simple. The sauce was elegant with a slight tartness. But by far the gnocchi was the most impressive part. It was so smooth and rich, it almost tasted like a scallop. 4. Pumpkin donuts - some of the best donuts I've had in Seattle! Was not expecting this. They were steamy and rich, with warming spices and a delightfully fluffy texture. Only wish we had bigger portions for the price. The touch of smoked cheesecake was a little too sweet but the donuts stood alone as impressive. They added a special touch for the birthday we celebrated: a candle with dessert and thoughtful birthday wishes made the evening even more memorable.
MarkPili is an incredible place, I highly recommend trying their tapas tasting menu. Their $65 tasting menu is filled with flavor, and although the bites are small the flavor and quantity leads to a satisfying meal. They change their tasting menu seasonally, and standouts this time were the savory churros, uni flan, and suckling pig. This restaurant is a win in both their price point and food, I can't recommend them enough. If you have never participated in a tasting menu before, this is a fantastic place to start. Service is standard for Seattle- polite, but sometimes distracted. The restaurant itself is clean, nicely decorated, and although the tables and space is relatively small it does not feel claustrophobic. A fantastic date night or place to go for a celebratory dinner.
A delicious Seattle spot especially if you love Spanish food. We did the tasting menu and it was fantastic. Some traditional tapas along with some unique spins on flavors. Highly recommend. What made it extra special? We ordered full glasses of a few wines and split them so we made our own wine flight. Great way to try the wine options!
Tonight was the second time we have been to MariPili. We loved our first experience---and also the space, reminiscent of Café Presse (gone but not forgotten). As much as I miss the later, I love what MariPili has done with the space. This tapas restaurant feels so cozy and inviting. We were tempted by the tasting menu (they have an urchin mousse for gods sake) but we elected to order of their tapas bar menu instead. A few highlights: -Sandia Especial: a spicy rum-based drink with fresh watermelon. -Crequetas de Jamén: A great croquette. Love the bechamel cheese. -The Patas Bravas: Perfectly crisp and the red sauce and aioli are great pairings. -The Canelones: a vegan pasta with eggplant. It is rich, nuanced, and balanced. As much as I love meat, I didn't miss it. Amazing vegan cooking. -Paella Tahdig: A great shrimp paella. -Bacallau a Mariñeira: This lingcod dish was the star of the show. The best bite we had all night (I wanted an entrée size portion). -La Bica: a very nuanced and balance dessert with bone marrow cake, rhubarb, and strawberry syrup. The service was okay. Present but not very connective. Each dish was brought out by a member of the kitchen staff (several different chefs). Some were more connective than others. Our waiter was not too attentive and we were always running out of water (please just leave a pitcher at the table). Prices are steep, but in my opinion the quality justifies the cost.
Super cute tapas bar with great food and service! I was surprised by how full I got from splitting 3 dishes with my friend, but prices were reasonable given the uniqueness of flavors. Loved the creamy and soft cannelone, crispy paella, and saucy patatas bravas. The space is a little on the smaller side so be sure to make a reservation on Open Table.
A new favorite! We had dinner at the bar and loved talking with the staff while eating such yummy tapas. AND, for the first time ever, I finally had churros that were fresh and delicious!!
